World Oceans Day 2024 – Killiney Beach clean-up & yoga session

Thanks to all for joining us on Killiney Beach on Sat 8 June 2024 for our regular clean-up and special yoga session by the sea to celebrate World Oceans Day. This year’s theme was Awaken new depths.

Killiney Bay Community Council (KBCC) endeavours to raise awareness of the vital importance of our oceans in everyday life and the role they play in sustaining a healthy planet. We were delighted to be participating once again in this global celebration. A huge thanks to our instructors and participants in our special yoga session by the sea to enjoy the many benefits of the sea air for our health.

• When: 10:15–13.00, Saturday 8 June 2024
  10.15am for 30-min yoga session, followed by 11am beach clean-up and refreshments
• Where: Meet at the Lifeguard Hut, Killiney Beach
• What to bring: Bring you own yoga mat or towel. Litter pickers and gloves supplied.

World Oceans Day aims to ‘inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans.’ For this year, the event is being celebrated on 7 June 2024, although the official UN designation of World Oceans Day remains 8 June.
