DESCRIPTION:Thanks to all for joining us on Killiney Beach on Sat 8 June 2024 for our regular clean-up and special yoga session by the sea to celebrate World Oceans Day. This year’s theme was Awaken new depths. \n\n\n\n\n\nKilliney Bay Community Council (KBCC) endeavours to raise awareness of the vital importance of our oceans in everyday life and the role they play in sustaining a healthy planet. We were delighted to be participating once again in this global celebration. A huge thanks to our instructors and participants in our special yoga session by the sea to enjoy the many benefits of the sea air for our health. \n  \n  \n\nWhen: 10:15–13.00\, Saturday 8 June 2024\n10.15am for 30-min yoga session\, followed by 11am beach clean-up and refreshments\nWhere: Meet at the Lifeguard Hut\, Killiney Beach\nWhat to bring: Bring you own yoga mat or towel. She was a government-appointed member of the Board of Directors of Inland Fisheries Ireland (2019 to 2022). A nationally recognised expert in the Habitats Directive\, she specialises in biodiversity planning in the coastal zone\, has experience in marine breeding birds and her overall interest is balancing sustainable development with environmental protection.\n\n  \n\nDr Michael O’Meara\, Blue Horizon\nMichael is a Director of Blue Horizon\, a citizens’ group based in Waterford. He has a longstanding appreciation of nature and the sea and holds the record for kayaking solo around Ireland\, a record held since 2015. He brings this passion for nature and his knowledge of the sea and coastal environment to the Blue Horizon campaign which calls for a 22km turbine-free zone off the Waterford coast in order to protect marine biodiversity\, the local fishing economy\, seascapes and tourism interests.
